Personal, Social Health and Citizenship Education (PSHE) and Relationships, Sex Education (RSE)
As a school we use the program ‘SCARF’ as PSHE program. SCARF's whole-school approach supports primary schools in promoting positive behaviour, mental health, wellbeing, resilience and achievement. SCARF supports great learning every day.
We aim to:
- Enable and promote pupils understanding of life, giving them the essential skills and knowledge
- Provide children a sense of self-worth, where they understand their unique identities and that they are special.
- Ensure all pupils play a positive role within school and the wider community, embodying the British Values
At Bugle School, we use the Scarf scheme of work which stands for:
Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience and Friendship.
Providing a strong, tangible framework; promoting positive ethos and values throughout all lessons encouraging all children to strive in achieving their best. It provides a healthy outlook towards life, promoting respect, caring attitudes and celebrates differences, providing a safe environment for children to be confident and successful learners.
The program contains weekly assembly themes, clear links to the British Values and weekly celebrations. There are 6 half termly units which each year group moves through at their own pace, there are:
- Me and My Relationships
- Valuing Difference,
- Keeping Safe,
- Rights and Respect,
- Being My Best,
- Growing and Changing.
